Description: Operation Shingle was part of the multipronged assault of Nazi Held Europe, often overshadowed by Operation DDay that would occur a few months later. It would culminate in the Allied capture of Rome which is an interesting historical sidenote as the American General who wanted the “credit” sacrificed thousands of additional soldiers for something that ultimately would never be remembered.
