Description: Now hold on I hear you say! Didn’t Sputnik launch October 4th??? Right you are smart and clever reader, however, the launch happened late at night so American newspapers didn’t report on it till the next day, hence why I say this newspaper is day of. The event that kicked of the Space Race and would culminate in the Moon Walk I’m always reminded of this poem:

“Fly High in the Sky Sputnik
With that made in Moscow Beep
You Tell the World It’s a Commie Sky
And Uncle Sam’s Asleep”
